this has been an extremely productive week. it's not that i accomplished a lot every single day, but i had been consistent with my projects. and, now that i am looking back, i am realizing, i got a lot done.
~ the job~
took care of most of my formalities. my work permit papers came through. as a result, i am not a formal employee. i also got the keys to my new office. there are things that still need to be done. the HR department of my school needs to finalize some of the paper-work, i need to organize my new office. but, i can now legitimately call myself an assistant professor.
~ the academic article~
made some more progress in it. i am hoping, i will be able to send it to my readers before the classes start. so, hopefully, by monday, i will have all the footnotes done.
~elsewhere~
we are now almost caught up with our submissions. we still need to read some of the more recent ones, but we are mostly caught up. and what is more, we have accepted some work that we are really excited about. our submission period does not close till september 15, and we are both keeping our fingers crossed: we want some more submissions our way. stories, essays and poems that make our hearts leap with joy!

ever since i have last blogged here, i have made a few submissions, got one rejection, and looking for some more avenues to submit my work. i also finished a poem and began another. the thing is, i am not too worried about generating new material. but, what i need to do at this stage of my writing life is to revise and reshape my existing body of poems into manuscript forms (chapbooks and/or full-length manuscripts). to that end, the new poems i am writing are being written with an eye towards finalizing these longer book projects. but, at the same time, i also want these individual poems to be strong on their own.
