Last day in Austin. Tonight, dinner with friends at Asia Cafe.
Right now, I am at Monkey Nest drinking my last cup of coffee here. And, I finished reading A. Van Jordan's Rise.
I tinkered my chapbook a little bit.
Re-fashioned some old material into a new poem. I did the same thing yesterday. Consequently, I now know which two older poems are going to be axed, and these two included in their place.
This morning, while drinking my first cup of coffee in an empty apartment, I have also made a list of places to submit my chapbook manuscript.
I have been working on this project for a while now. On the one hand, I know revision is good. It sharpens our work. And then, of course, a work of art, as the saying goes, is never really done. It's merely abandoned. I think, the time to abandon this project has come.
So, I will make another round of revisions. And after that, out it will go in the world. I am sure I will find a lot of things to change in it after a month or two. But, I am also getting comfortable with this idea of revising it continuously. I need to move away from that comfort zone and hand it over to others to judge. Depending upon the results, I will see. If the need arises, I will go for another round of revisions.
I feel sad. I will miss Austin. But, I am also excited to begin my new life at Miami.
